Spiro Agnew

 Spiro Agnew

Spiro Agnew was a Governor of Maryland who defeated a racist in the Governorship race. Agnew defeated a Democrat racist, George Mahoney, who campaigned with slogans of racism against MLK and against desegregating the housing market. Agnew was a moderate Republican who most likely was not a racist. People from Maryland voted for Agnew instead of the racist candidate. Agnew became the Governor and was later voted to be Vice President in the Nixon administration. (Contrary to popular belief, Vice Presidents are elected by the party committee.)

Although Agnew was the Vice President since the 1968 election, he probably was not a racist socialist. Agnew was not involved in Watergate. Agnew was not involved while Nixon decided to steal, bug, lie, and attempted to prevent a fair election in 1972. Similar to the Bolshevik one party system in the Soviet Union, Nixon wanted to keep the presidency without Democratic competition. Nixon was caught along with the FBI and this led to his resignation prior to impeachment proceedings.

The peculiar timing of Nixon's resignation coincided with Agnew's resignation being Vice President. Agnew was not involved with Watergate yet was charged with receiving kickbacks and contributions illegally while being Governor. (Lobbying when done without Nixon resigning but illegal contributions when Nixon was resigning. Lobbying was created by bureaucrats. Lobbying "activists" work for major corporations and organizations and provide money to be heard by politicians. Lobbying fees can be as insignificant as $50,000 with a politician being "persuaded to be supportive" of a corporation or organization's interest. Never mentioned is the fact that this sounds like trading money for favors.) It may be that Nixon envied Agnew knowing that he was not a racist and had defeated a racist for the governorship.

Nixon waited for Agnew to resign before choosing to resign. Nixon appointed Ford to be Vice President and allowed Ford to be President instead of Agnew. Ford pardoned Nixon despite Ellsberg's truthful report. Agnew most likely was not Establishment, was not a racist, served in the Second World War and fought nazi socialists, and was a moderate Republican. Agnew was not crooked like Nixon nor was he involved in Watergate. For having ideals and values, he was opposed and persecuted. Agnew was prevented from becoming President probably from Nixon's envy. The silver lining was that Agnew did not compromise his values and kept integrity. Nixon opposed Democratic and Republican candidates confirming he was a socialist and not a Christian. The Unraveling of America describes Nixon in generous terms, at times, despite massive deficits of character. The book describes Nixon's lack of integrity, yet still describes Nixon as "reformed" and changed prior to the 1968 election. The truth is that Nixon never changed and kept being crooked.
