 Jack Dempsey

Jack Dempsey was a top boxer in the United States in the 1920s and 1930s. Dempsey was one of thr best boxers changing the sport of boxing. His dedication and discipline caused the sport of boxing to change with the need to add more agility. Boxers needed to be agile to defend instead of keeping the upright defense (the boxing defense in the 1920s and 30s consisted of holding the arms and hands upward in order to defend against incoming strikes. Boxers began to duck, sway to the sides, and prioritize agility instead of the upright defense.

Dempsey was an amazing boxer who was impressive and was able to win the championship. He had losses but was able to recuperate and improve. Dempsey kept improving and caused the sport of boxing to evolve with needed agility. The modern sport of boxing has improved over the years due to the importance of cardio and agility. Cardio and agility have made the sport more dynamic, faster, and more interesting.
