Theodore Roosevelt
Theodore Roosevelt was President of the United States in 1890. Roosevelt was known for trust busting. Roosevelt decided to break up monopoly "capitalism" with the Anti-Trust Act of 1890. Even in the late 1800s, there was unfair and non-compete "business" practices that seemed a lot like socialism. Instead of there being fair competition between companies, there were trusts established. The trusts were in order for greedy idolatrous individuals to absorb most of a market while preventing competition for other independent businesses. Industries like the oil, steel, and railroad, were essentially "monopolies" that did not allow for competition. (There is a cartoon from Puck (1883) that described the anti-competition "capitalists" as oppressing the working class.)
It is noted in history books that the monopolies actively sabotaged competitors in order to prevent competition. Among the monopolies, the only individual that did good was Andrew Carnegie who donated a large part of his fortune to public libraries, institutions, and charities. Other monopoly "capitalists" accumulated money out of greed (Non-compete "capitalism" is not good but at least Carnegie donated money back to libraries, communities, and public institutions.) There is bad and then there is greedy, covetous, and stingy socialism.
There is the story of an oil trust beneficiary who decided to create medical schools in the early 1900s. Medical curriculum was designed by the oil "capitalist" and even used petroleum based medication for treatments. (Medications based on hydrocarbons and petroleum are carcinogenic. We have seen how bad medical treatments have caused disease like Vioxx, Celebrex, and Norpace in the latter half of the past century.) Eventually the hydrocarbon based medications were removed from pharmacies because they caused cancer. (Saw a Documentary of the Beginnings of Medical Education in the US based on the funding of John D. Rockefeller who owned 95% of the oil industry by creating a trust.)
Roosevelt decided to break up the non-compete "business" trusts in order to allow for competition between different industries. It is noted that industries became regulated and there was no longer one individual in control of each industry of oil, steel, banking, and railroad. Roosevelt described the importance of true capitalism fashioned after Frederic Bastiat and Frederick Hayek. This is important because true capitalism calls for anti-trusts and true competition. Socialists have stated that "monopoly" capitalism is American when in fact it is another form of socialism and idol worship. Roosevelt was not perfect, yet he did break up non-compete industries and businesses describing the imperitive to improve, be industrious, and for there to be the equal opportunity to compete. Monopoly "capitalism" calls for bureaucratic red tape, inequality, and oppression of competition to prevent either more industrious or more capable individuals from improving upon their circumstances. This was seen in the early 1900s when competition was removed in the oil industry through oppression and sabotage due to envy and socialism. (In the current times, there is a medical monopoly between pharmaceutical companies, medicine (socialist doctors who promote the covid "vaccine" paid by big pharma), and the medical supply industries. This could explain the creation of the covid "vaccine" and pandemic in order to prevent the working class from working and studying unless they take an "experimental" vaccine. Despite the monopoly created, it is possible to persevere without a covid experimental "vaccine". We can still exercise everyday and eat nutritious meals instead of harming our immune system with an experimental "vaccine". Learning each day helps us avoid the lies of the snake that says that monopoly "capitalism" is from Christianity and is American when in fact it is from idol worshipers and socialists who disdain true competition and equality.)
